Who we are

SiteHero is a web design studio based in Scotland. If you have any questions about your data, or want to use any of the rights below, email us at sitehero_business@outlook.com.

What information we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us through our forms. There are two: the form on the contact page and the project brief on the start page. Depending on the form, they ask for:

• your name
• your email address
• your phone number (optional)
• your business name and type, your town and what you need
• anything you choose to write in the message or project brief

We use this to reply to your enquiry, confirm your package and its fixed price and, if you go ahead, design and build your website. We do not use it for anything else.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages of this site are useful. It is switched off by default. It only loads if you click “Accept all” on the cookie banner. If you click “Reject all”, or you make no choice, Google Analytics does not load and nothing is sent to Google Analytics.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects usage information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use and your approximate location. We use this only as overall statistics about how the site is used. We do not use it to identify you.

You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” button in the footer of every page. Choosing “Reject all” there stops analytics and removes the Google Analytics cookies we can reach. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device so we do not ask you on every visit.

The Chat Widget

The Chat Widget on this site is button-based, with pre-set questions and answers. You choose from suggested questions and there is no text box to type into. Your conversation with it is kept in your browser’s session storage so it survives moving between pages, and it is cleared when you close the tab. It is not sent to us.

Other services this site uses

• Form handling and hosting. Form submissions are received through our hosting provider’s form service (Netlify), which passes them to us.
• Fonts, icons and scripts. To display the site, your browser loads fonts, icons and animation code from Google Fonts, Fontshare and jsDelivr, and some images from Unsplash. Those providers can see your IP address when your browser requests these files. This happens whether or not you accept analytics.
• Email. If you email us, your message goes through our email provider.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. The only other parties who handle it are the services listed above that we need in order to run this site and receive your enquiries.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to reply to you and, if you become a client, to run your project and keep our records. If you ask us to delete your details, we will.

Your rights, including deletion

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete your personal information
• stop using it for a particular purpose

To make a request, email sitehero_business@outlook.com and tell us which of these you want and the name and email address you used when you contacted us. We will reply and act on it as soon as we can. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
